In the 1960s, jewellery became a bold field of artistic experimentation, combining a wealth of colours with precise jewellery craftsmanship. This intricately crafted brooch, made of 750 gold, is an example of this era in which nature remained one of the most important inspirations.
The composition in the form of a branch of flowers was decorated with intensely cobalt enamel, the deep shade of which brings to mind Art Nouveau jewellery and the works of master craftsmen from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Each of the enamelled flowers conceals a figure-eight diamond in the centre, which delicately scatters the light, adding a subtle shine to the brooch. The leaves, modelled in gold and decorated with hand-carved details, create a contrast with the cool shade of the enamel, emphasising the naturalistic character of the composition.
This type of brooch could be worn as an elegant addition to evening wear, but also as an expression of artistic independence – characteristic of the 1960s, in which traditional jewellery techniques were combined with bold colour experiments. Today, it remains an example of jewellery that combines craftsmanship with decorative panache.
