In the second half of the 19th century, jewellery design became increasingly refined – a time when goldsmiths eagerly experimented with light, airy forms while preserving masterful stone-setting techniques. This necklace, crafted in silver with a gilded back, embodies both qualities.
Its central motif is built around harmonious triangular and marquise-shaped links, each set with rose-cut diamonds – a cut characteristic of the era, allowing the stones to shimmer with a delicate, flickering light, even in candlelight. The larger, lower rose-cut diamond is mounted in a fine circular bezel, bringing the composition to a rhythmic close with a striking focal point.
With a total diamond weight of approximately 2 carats, the careful placement and setting of the stones ensure the brilliance is evenly distributed throughout the necklace. This is an example of 19th-century jewellery craftsmanship at its finest – an adornment that served not only as decoration but also as an elegant and discreet symbol of status.
