This unique brooch-pendant was created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries – in the Art Nouveau era, when jewellery became a carrier of sophisticated lines, asymmetry and plant motifs. It was made of a combination of 0.585 yellow gold and silver, which was traditionally used to set diamonds to emphasise their cool shine.
The central element of the composition has a stylised, fan-like and plant-like shape, characteristic of Art Nouveau. The decoration consists of small, leaf-like motifs, in which rose-cut diamonds were set – subtle, twinkling and perfectly in line with the aesthetics of that era.
In the arrangement we also find two pearls – most likely natural, freshwater – one set centrally, the other suspended freely at the bottom of the composition as a movable element, typical of jewellery from around 1895–1910.
This jewellery has a dual function – it can be worn both as a brooch and a pendant. This type of solution was popular among ladies at the turn of the century, allowing them to adjust the form to the occasion. The set includes a gold chain, secondary, which does not come from the original set, but allows the decoration to be worn as a necklace.
This is an example of sublime Art Nouveau elegance - full of movement, light and subtlety. Perfect as collectible jewelry or an element of historicizing styling. Unique, preserved in very good condition, with charming craftsmanship of the fin de siècle era.
