This openwork Orthodox cross was created in a world where sacred jewelry was not an accessory but a personal sign of faith and remembrance. The inscription "Спаси и сохрани" – "Save and preserve" – is a formula present on Orthodox crosses for centuries, worn close to the body as a silent prayer, not a manifest. In the second half of the 20th century, especially in Eastern Europe and the Russian diaspora, such pendants returned to rich, openwork forms, referencing ancient church goldsmithery.

The composition is made of gold and built on the plan of a cross with distinctly expanded arms, filled with intricate plant ornamentation. The openwork structure is not merely decorative – it allows light to freely penetrate the form, bringing out the rhythm of the lines and the precision of the handiwork. The centrally placed figure of Christ has clearly defined proportions and a calm, hieratic character, consistent with the tradition of Orthodox iconography.

Diamonds symmetrically placed in the arms of the cross introduce a cool, pinpoint sparkle, contrasting with the warmth of the gold. Rubies, with their deep crimson color, appear as accents – evoking the symbolism of sacrifice, life, and protection.
