When women reached for jewellery in the 1950s and 1960s, they weren’t looking for subtle accents – they wanted sparkle that would catch the eye. This is how the style of cocktail rings “bombe” was born – with a rounded, full shape, stunning volume and a sparkling, almost sculptural character.
This vintage piece, made of 18-karat gold, is the quintessence of that era. Its convex dome is covered with a sparkling mosaic of diamonds with a total weight of 1.23 ct, SI1 clarity and G colour. The stones, arranged in an intricately decorated pavé setting, emphasise the rounded shape of the ring, while the gold lines, running spirally across its surface, give the composition a dynamic character.
The design draws inspiration from the jewellery of the great jewellery houses of the 1950s – Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari – which experimented with form and light, creating jewellery that was a statement of self-confidence and luxury. This is a ring that does not go unnoticed – just like the era it comes from.
