In post-war Vienna, where the old forms of Art Deco did not disappear with the end of the 1930s but began to live their own, more free rhythm, jewelers continued to draw the world in straight lines and sharp as light reflected from stone. This brooch is precisely from that moment – when elegance ceases to be austere and begins to pulse with color.

The central tourmaline in a deep green shade – verdelite – resembles a sheet of glass through which neon lights reflect from shop windows of the post-war city. Its elongated, geometric cut emphasizes the architectural character of the composition. This is not a stone "set" – it defines the direction of the entire form.

On both sides, symmetrical, almost aerodynamic wings spread out, in which calibrated amethysts create a distinct, purple line. Their color – saturated, cool – has been juxtaposed with shimmering rosettes, whose soft, diffused glow evokes an earlier era, even before the fascination with the perfect brilliant cut. This is a meeting of two worlds: pre-war tradition and post-war geometry.

The setting of 585 white gold was made with precision characteristic of Viennese workshops – delicate openwork, clearly defined edges, and rhythmic repetitions of detail build a composition that could just as well be a fragment of a modernist facade.

The brooch was created in the 1950s–60s, a period now referred to as Modern Art Deco – when classic motifs of this style were filtered through post-war aesthetics. As a result, it maintains formal discipline but allows for more light, more color, and more breath.
