Gold pearl pin from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Description
A gold pin made of 15-carat gold, dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Jewelry of this type was then a popular accessory for day and evening wear – it was used to fasten lace collars, scarves, ties, or elements of women's clothing.
The head of the pin features a small motif in the form of a twisted, rope-like circle. This ornament refers to the aesthetics of late Victorianism and early Art Nouveau, when braided motifs, spirals, and soft, flowing lines inspired by nature were readily used. A small natural pearl is placed in the central part, its subtle luster contrasting with the warm shade of gold.
The long, slender needle is delicately twisted in the middle section, which not only decorates the form but also increases stability when worn. Pins with a similar construction were produced in many European jewelry workshops at the turn of the eras, when small, carefully crafted accessories were an essential element of elegant attire.
