Gold earrings with old-cut diamonds, interwar period

In the interwar period, diamonds were worn differently than today, not for a dazzling effect, but for a subtle flicker that only appeared with movement. Old cuts, with their hand-applied proportions, created a softer, more intimate light, as if taken from the gas lamps and early incandescent bulbs of that era.

These earrings feature two diamonds with a total weight of 0.76 ct: stones with J color and P1 clarity, with facets characteristic of the era. The setting was made of silver, in accordance with the practice of the time, to enhance the cool tone of the stones, and the entire piece was supported by 18-karat gold. This combination of metals, warm and cool, was then a sign of elegance that could be found in both Parisian and Warsaw jewelry.

Delicate earwires and a length of 2.7 cm make the earrings move lightly, almost imperceptibly, and every smallest gesture elicits short, bright flashes from them. There is something of the theatricality of interwar fashion in them, but also the everyday closeness of items worn daily, those that over time cease to be an accessory and become companions of history.
