Gold brooch-necklace with diamond rosettes and pearls, late 19th/early 20th century
Description
This unique brooch-pendant was created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, during the Art Nouveau era, when jewelry became a vehicle for intricate lines, asymmetry, and plant motifs. It was made from a combination of 0.585 yellow gold and silver, traditionally used to set diamonds to emphasize their cool brilliance.
The central element of the composition has a stylized, fan-shaped floral form, characteristic of Art Nouveau. The decoration consists of delicate, leaf-like motifs, in which rose-cut diamonds are set, subtle, shimmering, and perfectly fitting the aesthetic of that era.
The design also features two pearls, most likely natural, freshwater pearls – one set centrally, the other suspended freely at the bottom of the composition as a movable element, typical of jewelry from around 1895–1910.
This piece of jewelry has a dual function – it can be worn both as a brooch and a pendant. Such solutions were popular among ladies at the turn of the century, allowing the form to be adapted to the occasion. The set includes a secondary gold chain, not part of the original set, but which allows the ornament to be worn as a necklace.
This is an example of sublime Art Nouveau elegance – full of movement, light, and subtlety. Excellent as a collector's item or a historical styling element. Unique, preserved in very good condition, with the charming craftsmanship of the fin de siècle era.
