Gold négligée necklace with rosettes, first half of the 20th century, Paris

At the beginning of the 20th century, forms that played with proportions and symmetry became fashionable in Parisian jewellery workshops. This is how the negligee necklace was created – light, free, as if escaping the classic rules of composition.

In the presented piece, 750 gold takes the form of a delicate chain, from which a simple, geometric element hangs. From this element, two slender pendants fall, ending in round medallions with diamond rosettes. Every movement of the body makes the stones sparkle in a different rhythm.

This is a necklace that has preserved the spirit of its era: the elegance, lightness and jewellery fantasy that Paris of the first half of the 20th century was able to enclose in such a small, yet refined form.
