Art Deco Inspired Gold and Diamond Necklace, Vintage

This necklace was created in the second half of the 20th century as a deliberate reference to the Art Deco style, an era fascinated by geometry, symmetry, and the contrast of light and shadow. Made of gold of two finenesses – Au 0.585 and 0.375 – it combines the nobility of the metal with the precision of form, characteristic of jewelry inspired by interwar modernism.

The central pendant attracts attention with a motif resembling outstretched bat wings – a rare and unconventional detail, balancing on the edge of Art Deco aesthetics and subtle references to neo-Gothic symbolism. This "winged" accent gives the composition a slightly dark, mysterious character, evoking the fascination with night, architecture, and ornamentation present in 1930s jewelry and later reinterpretations of this style.

Diamond roses are set along the vertical axis of the pendant, drawing the eye towards the lower accent – a 0.34 ct diamond in an old cut. Its soft, slightly deeper sparkle differs from modern brilliant cuts and reveals the hand-cut origin of the stone, as well as an attachment to old jewelry techniques. The entire piece, despite lacking hallmarks, presents a cohesive, well-thought-out form and aesthetic characteristic of Art Deco jewelry reinterpreted in the second half of the 20th century.
