On the signet ring's face, the night sky, specifically the Sagitta constellation, is depicted using diamonds of various sizes.

On the inner side, the Japanese character ya (pronounced jah) has been engraved, signifying the aforementioned constellation, but also simply meaning evening.

There are various myths about who shot this arrow and at whom. This constellation has been known since antiquity and was one of the 48 constellations described by Ptolemy. It represents an arrow from the bow of the mythological god of love, Eros, or an arrow with which Apollo defeated the one-eyed cyclops giant.

Hyginus, however, believed that Sagitta is one of the arrows Hercules shot to kill the Caucasian eagle tearing out Prometheus's liver. Yet another version states that it was the arrow with which Hercules killed the Stymphalian birds while performing one of his twelve labors.
