Gold coral ring, 1st half of the 20th century.
Description
There are objects that were created in the quiet of a small workshop – without haste, without calculating the production of thousands of copies. This ring, from the first half of the 20th century, carries that very rhythm of work: calm, focused, subject to the hand of the master goldsmith.
The centrally set cabochon-cut coral has a warm, deep hue of mature red with natural, subtle tonal transitions. Its surface is not perfectly "glassy" – and it is precisely this that reveals the authenticity of the material and its handcrafted finish. Coral at that time was a stone valued not only for its color but also for its symbolism of protection and life force. In jewelry given for engagements or important anniversaries, it had an almost personal significance.
The setting, made of 585 yellow gold, was shaped by hand. Delicate, flowing lines on the sides of the stone create an organic composition, reminiscent of Art Nouveau inspirations, although the form remains restrained and balanced. The subtle curls of the metal are not a repetitive casting – their asymmetry and softness reveal the work of tools guided by the craftsman's hand. The slender shank smoothly transitions into a decorative crown, allowing the ring to sit well on the hand despite its prominent center.
This is a proposition for those who seek jewelry with an authentic pedigree – not a stylistic reconstruction, but an object that was truly created in an era when the goldsmith was both designer and craftsman. It will serve as an unconventional engagement ring, an anniversary gift, or a conscious collector's choice.
In our workshop, this type of jewelry undergoes a thorough analysis – both in terms of gold purity and the authenticity of the stones – in cooperation with gemologists and experts in ancient goldsmithing. As a result, you receive not only a beautiful object but also a reliably confirmed history of its origin.
