In old jewellery workshops, cabochon-cut stones were treated in a special way. They were not subjected to the rigour of facets or forced into geometric perfection. They were left in the form of a soft, convex surface, so that they could retain what was most interesting about them – the internal world of inclusions, tiny veins, and natural structures that formed in the earth over millions of years.

This 2.80 ct emerald reveals its nature precisely in this way. Beneath the smooth surface of the cabochon, one can see inclusions characteristic of this mineral – delicate fractures and structures resembling tiny gardens enclosed within the stone. Gemmologists often call them jardin, garden, because almost botanical compositions can be seen in its green depths.

The stone is set in a wide yellow gold signet ring, whose fluid, sculptural form gently encloses the cabochon. The setting does not compete with the emerald's colour; on the contrary, it guides the eye towards its centre. The smooth gold surfaces softly reflect light, accentuating the stone's deep, saturated green.

This is a signet ring with a distinctly classic genealogy, recalling ancient rings worn by merchants, travellers, and collectors of precious stones. The contemporary realisation was created in our goldsmith's workshop, where jewellers, gemmologists, and art historians collaboratively refine the proportions so that the natural beauty of the stone can speak for itself without unnecessary embellishments.
