This ring is a perfect example of Art Deco jewellery – a style that transformed jewellery aesthetics in the 1920s into geometry, contrast and luxurious symmetry. Made of 0.912 platinum, a metal particularly valued in this era for its durability and cool, noble shine.
At the centre of the composition is an oval-cut sapphire with an intense, deep navy blue colour. The stone is set in a millegrain setting – finely beaded, which enhances the precision of the workmanship and recalls the technique of the master jewellers of the 1920s. Around the sapphire are four trapezoidal zones with calibrated baguette-cut sapphires, which enhance the effect of the frame and give the composition architectural strength.
The whole is complemented by numerous diamonds in an old eight-cut – subtle but sparkling, set on the surface of the plate in a geometric arrangement. Their delicate shine does not compete with the central sapphire, but creates a refined background, emphasizing the symmetry and chiaroscuro of the design.
This is the typical form of a cocktail ring from the 1920s, with a clearly geometric design, characteristic of the influences of Bauhaus and modernism. The platinum construction and the contrast of colors (blue sapphire, white diamonds and cool metal) make this ring a jewel of the era, which still impresses today with its current style and craftsmanship.
Ideal as a collectible piece of jewelry, an engagement ring with history or an evening accessory of uncompromising elegance.
