This exceptional ring is an example of classic Italian jewellery, combining high-grade gold (18K) and 0.800 silver – a duo characteristic of traditional jewellery from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, also preserved in some works by Italian workshops in later decades.
In the centre there is a round brilliant-cut diamond, set in a smooth crown – clean, with a clear point of light. It is accompanied by eight-cut diamonds – smaller, with a more closed shine, giving the composition a shimmering effect known from historical cocktail and engagement rings.
The front of the ring is built on a vertical plane, with an ornamental structure reminiscent of plant-arabesque motifs or stylised hearts. Rich, but not exaggerated details are filled with precisely placed stones, creating the effect of an openwork, chiaroscuro composition. This type of arrangement brings to mind Edwardian rings and early Art Deco jewelry, but with the classic Italian lightness of form preserved.
The combination of a gold rail with a silver front of the setting was not only an aesthetic practice (silver works better with diamonds), but also a testament to the workshop's attention to detail. This ring was probably created in one of the Italian workshops specializing in hand-setting of stones and historicizing stylings.
Ideal both as collectible jewelry and as an engagement ring with soul and character.
