Sometimes all it takes is one stone to catch the eye – and this ring from 1958, made in Leningrad, is a perfect reminder of that. A 0.69 ct SI1 diamond shines in its centre. The stone is set in a delicate white gold setting, the edges of which are decorated with subtle milgrain – small pearl decorations that add a retro character to the whole.
But what makes this ring stand out from the rest are the details surrounding the diamond. Two gently curved bands of white gold cross around the stone, creating a motif reminiscent of the infinity symbol. This motif is not accidental – for centuries it has symbolised durability and an everlasting bond, and in jewellery it is often associated with love that has no end.
The whole is complemented by a 0.583 rose gold track, the warm colour of which contrasts beautifully with the cool shine of the diamond and white gold. This combination is typical of jewelry from the Soviet era – subtle, but with a distinctive accent.
